Iron & Manganese Removal

The problem

Dissolved iron and manganese in groundwater cause red-brown staining, scaling, biofouling and rapid fouling of RO membranes and resins. Conventional sand filters cannot remove metals in dissolved form.

What the treatment needs

Catalytic or oxidising media — manganese greensand or manganese dioxide — which oxidise dissolved iron and manganese in the bed so the precipitated metals are filtered out and removed on backwash.
